Many of the Centaur machines made in the 1970s are still in use. The long life expectancy is because Centaur uses metal components instead of plastic. The motor housing, casters, intake nozzle, and latches are all made of metal. The SL-3 is portable and very easy to roll on Bare floors and commercial carpets. All Centaur vacuums are equipped with double ball-bearing casters, where most vacuums in this category are made with plastic parts.
